Module 24 · Continuity

Switch phones without losing anything

New phone, loss, breakage: your data hinges only on your code and your backup. Here's how to recover your vault intact.

OldNewBackupJSONcodeBackup + code = your vault restored in seconds
A backup and your code are enough: your vault is reborn intact on the new device.

Two ways to restore

  • Local backup (JSON): re-import the encrypted file you had exported. Works even 100% offline.
  • Cloud restore: in Tribe Mode, recover your vault from the household's encrypted sync.

The code, your only key

Your secret code is the decryption key. With it and a backup, you restore everything. Without it, the data stays permanently unreadable — which is exactly what protects it.

Caution

No one, not even the publisher, can recover a lost code. Hence the importance of a regular backup: it's your best insurance.

Make it a habit

Enable the backup reminder in Ozorys and export your vault now and then to a safe place. The day you switch phones, the move takes only seconds.
